Whole wheat rhubarb bread

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup oil
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/4 cups white flour
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups diced rhubarb
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tbsp. butter
Method
Preheat oven to 325F.
1. Grease 2 bread pans.
2. Mix the brown sugar and oil, add the egg and beat well.
3. Dissolve the baking soda in the buttermilk and set aside.
4. Sift the flour and salt together and add to the sugar--oil mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.
5. Stir in the rhubarb, vanilla and nuts.
6. Pour into the bread pans. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon and butter. Sprinkle over batter.
7. Bake at 325 for about an hour. Remove from pans and cool on wire rack.
