The New Windsor-based brand expands its North Carolina barbecue offerings to a second Hudson Valley location with Brothers Barbecue Palisades.

Few things surpass barbecue when it comes to comfort foods, and Brothers Barbecue knows it best. With an impressive collection of “best barbecue” awards from festivals and readers’ polls alike, the family-owned restaurant collective embodies the energy of true southern hospitality. Originally setting up shop in New Windsor in 2008, the barbecue brand now has three locations across New York and New Jersey after recently opening the new Brothers Barbecue Palisades restaurant in West Nyack’s Palisades Center.

Owned and operated by Gavin, Jamie, and Christian Farella, Brothers Barbecue serves up a delicious family tradition of North Caroline barbecue. Although the Farella brothers are all New York natives, they know a thing or two about southern cooking thanks to their summers spent on North Carolina’s Outer Banks in Beaufort, where they learned their way around the kitchen thanks to their mother, aunt, and grandmother. Now, the menu at all the Brothers Barbecues locations includes many dishes that have been in the family for generations – including the famous barbecue sauce.

At the Farella brothers’ new Rockland County restaurant, diners can expect the same themes of family and home that are present at all of the brand’s locations. Designed by Garrett Singer Architecture and Design, the same company as their Ramsey, New Jersey Brothers Smokehouse location, the Palisades Center restaurant greets visitors with wallpapers that are reminiscent of the brothers’ parental home, a quirky collection of pig themes, and communal tables under glow lights that evoke the feeling of a backyard barn.

“The Rockland community has been super supportive since we opened. It’s been great to hear all the positive feedback that they are grateful to have an authentic barbecue and soul food restaurant to call their own. Our goal is always to make Brothers an extension of our family table, and hearing people say they feel at home and our cuisine reminds them of home cooking is what it’s all about,” says Gavin Farella.

Each Brothers Barbecue restaurant features mouthwatering sights and smells from the wood, smoke, and prepared meats, but the new Palisades location showcases a custom-built pink smoker. Smoked wings, sticky ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and more are smoked low and slow daily with the restaurant’s special blend of woods and house seasonings under the care of a skilled pitmaster to yield the tastiest barbecue.

When you sit down to enjoy a meal at any of the Farella brothers’ locations, you’ll have a hard time choosing from classics like Uncle Bo’s buttermilk-fried Gulf shrimp, Brothers’ legendary dry rub ribs, pepper-crusted smoked brisket, and Texan smoked sausage. If you want to sample a little of everything, opt for The Uncle Dave – a platter that includes Brothers Barbecue’s most popular meats, from ribs to smoked chicken and everything in between.

Along with barbecue, each restaurant also serves classic southern specialties like Aunt Edna’s fried chicken, Mama’s shrimp and grits, and Aunt Carline’s fried shrimp. Make sure to order a craft cocktail, authentic southern sweet tea, or cold glass of Becca’s lemonade to wash all the good eats down and end your meal with banana pudding or a pie of the day for a sweet finish.

From watching sports at the bar to gathering with friends to enjoy great food and good music, Brothers Barbecue’s restaurants are the place to relax, unwind, and bask in an ambiance of true southern hospitality.

Brothers Barbecue is located at 2402 NY-32 in New Windsor and at 4242 Palisades Center Drive in West Nyack.
