Dig into meaty mains all throughout Hudson Valley Restaurant Week with our carnivore’s guide to what to order during the fall event.

When it comes to dining out during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, it can be hard to know where to begin. Do you want to go for lunch or dinner? Also, are you looking for a restaurant close to home or one a little further away that you’ve been meaning to try? And, perhaps most important of all, what’s on the menu?

For meat eaters in the Hudson Valley, Restaurant Week presents two weeks of dining deliciousness, during which time eateries feature everything from burgers and steaks to Bolognese, meatloaf, and even short ribs on the menu. In honor of the occasion, we’re highlighting a few of the meatiest bites made for savoring in every county during Restaurant Week.

– Dutchess County –

Sotano

Fishkill
Lunch: Sun-Thurs
Dinner: Sun-Thurs

In celebration of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, Sotano delivers a menu filled with mouthwatering flavors. On the carnivorous front, the penne with filet mignon bolognese is a must. It’s on both the lunch and dinner menus and features slow-braised ground filet mignon with wild mushrooms and pecorino cheese.

Perfect pairing: Keep it light to start with a beet and goat cheese salad, which includes both yellow and red organic beets. If you have room for dessert after clearing your plate of that decadent pasta, keep it simple with vanilla gelato or mango sorbet.

Heritage Food + Drink

Wappingers Falls
Lunch: Sun-Fri

The fan-favorite in Wappingers Falls does lunch and dinner service right during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. While the entire menu sounds scrumptious, beef eaters will want to make a beeline for the “Smokehouse” burger for lunch and the crispy duck confit for dinner. The former features crispy onions, cheddar, steak sauce, and aioli, while the latter tempts with cauliflower puree and a fall root vegetable hash.

Perfect pairing: Keeping with the autumnal theme, start the meal off with the caramelized apple and squash soup, which pairs black pepper cream with candied pecans and a cider drizzle. After polishing off the burger or the duck, end the food-filled affair with the perfectly seasonal pumpkin and apple bread pudding for dessert.

Aroma Osteria

Wappingers Falls
Lunch: Fri-Sun

Dinner: Tues-Fri and Sun

For a true Italian experience, swing by Aroma Osteria during Restaurant Week. The Wappingers Falls restaurant features meaty entrees on both its lunch and dinner menus, so there’s always a hearty meal to be had. For lunch and dinner, diners can dig into the pollo Nostrano, which pairs a free-range chicken breast with wild mushrooms, pearl onions, and sweet peas.

Perfect pairing: Warm your palate with the zuppetta di funghi, a wild mushroom soup with a medley of cremini, shiitake, and oyster ‘shrooms, to start. When it’s time for a sweet finish, you can’t go wrong with the pera al vino Sangiovese, a.k.a. a Hudson Valley Bosc pear poached in a red wine sauce and served with mascarpone mousse.

If you’ve been dreaming about a foodie day trip to Gracie’s, consider this your sign to make a reservation. The Greene County restaurant treats diners to a number of mains, and meat-leaning foodies will want to check out the signature Gracie’s burger or the fried chicken sandwich. The burger is a special blend of beef and bacon (because, yum), and both handhelds come with the option of fries or a salad.

Perfect pairing: Start the food party off with an order of fried green tomatoes, then wrap it all up with a slice of pie. You can’t do much better for farm-to-table diner vibes than that!

Trust An Artistic Taste to do flavor-filled entrees right during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. The Harriman hotspot is the perfect place to go for parties with a variety of dining preferences and restrictions in play. While diners with gluten-free and vegan inclinations will be happy here, meat lovers will find themselves quite content as well. Case in point: the Gracejoy jerk chicken is packed to the brim with flavor and accompanied by braised cabbage, jerk jus, coconut rice, and peas.

Perfect pairing: Thought only the main course included meat? At An Artistic Taste, the crisp chicken buns on the apps menu will have diners wondering whether they should order a second round *just in case.* As for dessert, it’s just as scrumptious, with a choice of banana bread, tres leches, or salted caramel souffle to round things out.

Oak & Reed

A gem in Middletown, Oak & Reed treats Hudson Valley Restaurant Week diners to a veritable fall feast for both lunch and dinner. While there are a number of tempting entrees from which to choose on the afternoon and evening menus, foodies will be hard-pressed to ignore the siren song of pork Milanese for lunch or veal saltimbocca for dinner.

Perfect pairing: Dive headfirst into meaty bites via the dry-rubbed chicken wings with Alabama white sauce to start. To finish off the meal, the smoked maple panna cotta with Biscoff dulce de leche is the only way to go.

This longtime favorite in the Hudson Valley is a pro when it comes to wowing diners during Restaurant Week. On the dinner menu, visitors to Clock Tower Grill will swoon over chicken vodka burrata parm, the Insta-famous order featuring a massive, paper-thin chicken cutlet with fresh spaghetti and vodka sauce.

Perfect pairing: If you’re doing chicken parm for dinner, the Pioppino mushrooms appetizer featuring ‘shrooms from Westchester Mushroom Co. is the ideal way to get your taste buds tingling. After the rich entrée, end the evening on the perfect note by dipping your spoon into the smooth and creamy vanilla bean and honeybee pudding.

Perfect pairing: For those who want to start the meal off with something lighter, the baby arugula salad with feta, toasted almonds, and Kalamata olives is a no-brainer. As for the sweet finish, the caramelized apple cheesecake is classic, creamy, and utterly delicious.

Freelance Café & Wine Bar

Want to get serious bang for your buck during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week? Head to Freelance Café in Congers, where three courses of fine dining are available for a relative steal this fall. As for what to order, the slow-braised beef short ribs are showstopping, with a red wine reduction and mashed potatoes to round out the experience.

Perfect pairing: In terms of appetizers, the short rib rigatoni is hard to beat if you want to go all in on meat. Later, round it out with a mixed berry sundae for a sweet scoop that’s on the lighter side.

If you’re heading up to Resorts World Catskills during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, do yourself a favor and stop by Cellaio for dinner. When the time comes to choose an entrée, opt for the broiled petit filet, which comes with a potato puree and Cellaio steak sauce.

Perfect pairing: The classic meatballs with broccoli rabe pesto make for a strong start. If you’re feeling extra hungry, Cellaio offers two pasta supplements for an additional $15 each. After indulging on a full spread of Italian favorites, round things out with a mini cannoli trio for dessert.

Cruise to Sullivan County for a top-tier meal at Kenoza Hall during Restaurant Week. The Kenoza Lake eatery offers not one, but two meaty mains in the form of coq au vin with root vegetables and tri-tip steak with pommes puree and tri-color cauliflower.

Perfect pairing: The pear and gorgonzola salad is the perfect way to start the meal off, with candied nuts and bitter greens to give your taste buds all the fall feels. For dessert, the crème brûlée is delightful.

In the mood for dinner in Kerhonkson during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week? Plan a meal at Mill & Main if you’re craving fresh flavors with a global influence. For the main course, get ready to dig into tempting bites like chicken saltimbocca or a butter-basted ribeye steak with oyster mushrooms.

Perfect pairing: The island wings, which come with mango barbecue or dry jerk seasoning, will wow diners from the first bite. As for dessert, the seasonal bread pudding a la mode will leave you craving just one more scoop.

The Ship Lantern Inn

While there are so many things to love about The Ship Lantern Inn’s Restaurant Week menu, the inside-out beef Wellington with wild mushrooms and roasted shallots is making us hungry just thinking about it. If that doesn’t sound like a warmup for Thanksgiving dinner, we don’t know what does.

Perfect pairing: For a cozy starter, the cream of butternut squash bisque tastes like fall in a bowl. When it’s time for dessert, the Caradonna Farm apple crisp with cinnamon and pecan ice cream is indulgent in the best way.

Craving Italian during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week? Westchester’s Allegria has everything you desire. For dinner, the eatery pulls out all the stops with rigatoni braised short ribs and roasted chicken breast, along with a host of other mains.

Perfect pairing: For a surf-and-turf-style meal, opt for the calamari fritti or the impepata di cozze as a starter. Then, for dessert, keep it classic with tiramisu to end the evening right.

Dubrovnik Restaurant

New Rochelle

Known for its Croatian flair, Dubrovnik sizzles with savory specials on its Hudson Valley Restaurant Week menu. The chicken Tetka Nikica with mashed potatoes, wild mushroom sauce, and truffe oil is a hearty fall entrée that diners won’t soon forget.

Perfect pairing: With chicken for the main, there’s nothing like mussels Buzara for an appetizer. They’re steamed in white wine with herbs and garlic for a seriously flavorful first bite. As the meal comes to its conclusion, the Croatian-style crepes are the perfect sweet touch your palate needs.
