Summer in the Hudson Valley is when our local food scene really comes alive. Farmers’ markets are in full swing, restaurants are creatively incorporating the freshest ingredients into their menus, and everyone is excited to dine outdoors.
Think of this issue as a chef’s kiss to the season—our aim is to give you plenty of ideas and inspiration to make these long, luxurious days as delicious as possible. If you’re the kind of person who plans your weekends around your meals (we know we are!) then you are sure to appreciate “Foodie Day Trips” on page 32. We focused on three of our favorite small cities and created a meal-by-meal guide, plus top spots for drinks and desserts. Three favorites of mine are included: Feast & Floret (Hudson), Håkan Chocolatier (Beacon), and Rough Draft Bar & Books (Kingston), and there are a bunch of places I need to try!
Of course, it’s not summer without copious amounts of ice cream (how scrumptious does our triple-scoop cover cone from Zoe’s Ice Cream Barn in Lagrangeville look?) and we are incredibly lucky to have so many super-fresh, cow-to-cone options in our area. Trust us with this curated list—“Sweet Dreams” starting on page 26—if any of these 10 awesome shops aren’t in or near your hometown, they are absolutely worth a drive!
