What’s autumn in the Hudson Valley without a trip to one of the region’s orchards or cideries? The only way to properly ring in the harvest season is with pick-your-own adventures, freshly pressed apple cider, and coveted apple cider donuts. Yet, these popular destinations go the extra mile with fall festivals, barbecues, and more festive cidery events – all while serving house-made hard cider on tap.
Mystic Moon
Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard, North Salem
Through November 1
At Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard in North Salem, Mystic Moon offers a brand-new way to celebrate the season. Running through November 1, the first-of-its-kind spooktacular experience is a Halloween-inspired attraction filled with eerie fun for all ages. Visit the North Salem orchard after sundown to embark on the spooky stroll through the woods and marvel at illuminated 80-year-old oak trees and other glowing scenes of wonder.
Flannel Fest
Greenhouse Cidery, Chatham
October 11, 12–9 p.m.
There’s always something exciting going on at The Chatham Berry Farm’s Greenhouse Cidery, but October is truly jam-packed. From live music to pop-up ice cream and florist events, the venue’s Flannel Fest is the star of the season. Drop by for live music from Pony in the Pancake and Christina Abbott, a pop-up from Supreme Soft Serve Ice Cream Truck and Creme de la Creme Cream Puffs, and more food from onsite Yummy Kitchen. Be sure to don your flannel, eat, drink, and be merry!
Pups and Pints
Angry Orchard Cider House, Walden
October 13, 12-8 p.m.
Angry Orchard is perhaps the Hudson Valley’s best-known cidery, and the destination doesn’t disappoint with fun events all season long. On October 13, the Cider House hosts its Pups and Pints event to invite visitors to enjoy a dog-friendly afternoon while sipping cider alongside four-legged friends. Bring man’s best friend, then Angry Orchard will provide everything else — from the hard cider to the seasonal treats.
Happy Life Animal Rescue Adoption Event
Fishkill Farms, Hopewell Junction
October 18, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Are you on the hunt for your very own furry friend? Head to Fishkill Farms this October to visit adoptable dogs from Happy Life Animal Rescue who are in need of loving homes. It’s going to be a day full of wagging tails, apple picking, hayrides, cider donuts, and more fall fun. Stop by the Treasury Cider Bar for tastings and glasses of your favorite Fishkill Farms pour as part of the cidery event.
Cider Maze
Samascott’s Garden Market, Kinderhook
October 24, 5-10 p.m.
Presented by Nine Pin Cider, this cidery event in Kinderhook puts an adult twist on classic corn mazes. Navigate through Samascott’s Garden Market’s seven-acre corn-themed corn maze as you enjoy a crisp can of Nine Pin hard cider. Throughout the maze, there are eight punch points, and guests who find four of the eight punches will receive $1 off a pour at the pop-up Nine Pin bar outside of the maze, while those who find all eight punches will receive $1 off the second pour as well!
Hudson Valley Craft Beverage Festival
Twin Star Orchards, New Paltz
November 1, 12 p.m.
In New Paltz, Twin Star Orchards is home to the Brooklyn Cider House, which crafts canned and bottled hard ciders using orchard-grown apples. As a craft beverage producer itself, the destination is proud to host the Hudson Valley Craft Beverage Festival this fall, which will showcase over 35 local producers of cider, beer, wine, spirits, coffee, and kombucha. Enjoy tastings of beverages, shop the vendor market throughout the day, and savor food from Twin Star Orchards’ season-closing pig roast from 1-3 p.m.
