Independence Day is right around the corner in the Hudson Valley. Oh say can you see how excited we are?

By Hallie Milstein and Olivia Cambalik

This Fourth of July weekend, people all over the country and in our corner of New York State will be celebrating American freedom and progress with loved ones, firecrackers, and lots of red, white, and blue.

Of course, this holiday would be incomplete without classic American food, so fire up the grill — or don’t, because these Hudson Valley dining experiences have you covered. While many places are closed in honor of the Fourth of July, these eateries offer specials that are sure to have you pledging allegiance.

The Greens at Copake

Copake

Make your reservations for surf and turf weekend June 30 through July 4 at The Greens at Copake. Get your fill with a special all-day menu. Enjoy bites such as clam chowder, barbecue ribs, lobster salad rolls, loaded baked potatoes, and fried clam sandwiches. Plus, look out for special additions such as the lobster bake dinner on Friday and the filet mignon and lobster surf and turf on Monday (must reserve in advance).

Pier 701

Piermont

What sounds better than a Fourth of July luau? An Independence Day fest that’s also the perfect spot to view fireworks right on the Hudson River, of course! The best part of the party at Pier 701 is the buffet that will feature a pig roast, a chef-manned paella station, raw bar, assorted cold salads, dessert bar, and more. Reservations are required, and tickets are $75 per person, which includes a complimentary drink.

River Pavilion at Hutton Brickyards

Kingston

The open-air restaurant pavilion located on the banks of the Hudson River will be serving up a Fourth of July menu with delicious flavors from the wood-fired ovens and grills. Munch on Calabrian honey (or barbecue) wings or grilled oysters to start, followed by special salads and wood-fired pizza (such as the roast pork pizza with chili oil). Relax after your meal on the 70-plus acres of lawn, where you can play lawn games with the family or kick back on Adirondack chairs with a cocktail.

Twin Star Orchards

New Paltz

With food-centric events happening all weekend long, Twin Star Orchards is the destination for Fourth of July fun in the Hudson Valley. On Friday, June 30, enjoy a paint and sip, which includes a One Brooklyn Cider House hard cider. On Saturday and Sunday, July 1 and 2, the orchard will host a Texas-style barbecue spotlighting a 15-hour low-and-slow smoked brisket with flavors of applewood from the orchards. All weekend long, enjoy award-winning natural hard ciders, including the new Pomme Rouge, a blend of heirloom apples with notes of tart cherry and cranberry.

4th of July Fireworks Dutch Apple BBQ Dinner Cruise

Albany

Relax on July 4 with a delicious barbecue dinner, oldies music, and fireworks over the Plaza (put on by the City of Albany). Memphis King BBQ will be preparing all of your barbecue favorites such as beef brisket, pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw, and more. There is also a full bar aboard the cruise with drinks available for purchase. All three decks have tables and chairs to watch the fireworks while enjoying your meal. The cruise boards at 7 p.m., and tickets need to be purchased ahead of time.
