It was a dry, dairyless seven months while Grand Cru Beer & Cheese Market relocated from the center of Rhinebeck to the outskirts of town. But thankfully they’re back, now in a much larger space with just as many tap lines.

Husband and wife team Rod Johnson and Alicia Lenhart bought their new property with the idea of opening a second location three years ago. But after 8½ years in central Rhinebeck, they eventually decided to invest in a single expanded location. So they closed up the doors, and set about moving to 1094 Route 308.

Like their original shop, the new Grand Cru has 16 draught beers, but they have pared down their beer and wine offerings to a more curated selection. While they don’t currently serve hot food, they will continue to offer cheese boards, while food truck nights and pop-up dinners frequent the event calendar. And if all goes according to plan, the couple hopes to add a full menu into the mix in 2020.

Aside from the roomier venue, Grand Cru 2.0 lets Johnson and Lenhart host live music on a weekly basis, as well as bring the outdoors into their business plan with outside seating, lawn games, and fire pits in the fair weather. Bring the kids and the pup while you’re at it — the lawn is open to everyone.
