Celebrate mom with a Spanish food cooking class, an indulgent brunch, an exciting murder mystery show, and more around the Hudson Valley.
Mother’s Day is this weekend on May 12. This year, give mom an unforgettable gift with a unique Hudson Valley dining experience. Check out our five recommendations below.
Spain and the World Table
The Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park
Does your mom love to cook and get excited about making a new dish? The Spain and the World Table Class at the Culinary Institute of America is the perfect Mother’s Day present. Give her the gift of learning from the best culinary experts in the nation by signing her up for this immersive, one-day course. She will get to explore the best of Spanish cuisine, of which the star is tapas—small plates that pack big flavor. She’ll enjoy a glass of Spanish wine while learning about (and tasting) the ingredients, traditions, and techniques of Spanish cooking.
Mother’s Day at Indian Ladder Farms
Altamont
At Indian Ladder Farms, the day is packed with events that mom is sure to love. The festivities kick off at 9 a.m. with the Mother’s Day Run for Mimosas. Run a 5k through the scenic farm and, once you cross the finish line, receive a mimosa (ILFCB Dry Hard Cider & orange juice) — now that’s a race we can get behind! The deadline to register is May 11 at 11:59 p.m., and you must be 21-plus.
Additionally, Season’s Catering hosts a brunch with seating times at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3p.m. Reservations must be made ahead, and diners can expect to enjoy fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, croissants, and more. At 3 p.m., there will be a bake-off in three categories: cakes, pies, and baked goods. The farm is looking for 12 bakers, so be sure to come check it out.
Pinot’s Palette
Fishkill
Spend a relaxing evening out with mom at Pinot’s Palette. You don’t have to be artsy to attend a paint and sip class; you will be guided step-by-step by an artist. Besides, the whole concept of a paint and sip is to socialize and have fun, so no need to strive for perfection! The studio offers a selection of wine, beer, and small plates to enjoy while you decorate your canvas. Check out the list of public events to choose a painting that mom would love to create. Private events are also offered.
Mother’s Day Brunch
Clock Tower Grill, Brewster
Brunch is a classic Mother’s Day treat. This year, treat mom to a brunch at Clock Tower Grill with the perfect spread of delicious dishes and goodies. Look forward to an omelet station, frittatas, fried chicken and biscuits, a bagel station, crab cakes, mimosas, and more. To make the day even sweeter, every mom gets to take home a box of house-baked macarons. Brunch is from 11 a.m. to 2-p.m., $65 for adults, and $25 for kids 10 and under.
A Show by Murder Cafe
