Nanny’s Citrus Walnut Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 12 oz of cranberries
  • 1/2 apple, chopped
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • ⅔ cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 orange flavored liqueur
  • 1/4 water
  • 1-2 scoops of walnuts, if desired

Method

  1. Place all ingredients except walnuts into a saucepan and bring to boil. Simmer until cranberries are “popped,” about 5-10 minutes.
  2. Add the walnuts and stir to combine. Transfer to a serving dish and chill. Sauce will thicken once temperature decreases.
