What is simple syrup, you ask? Really, it’s just sugar and water combined in a one-to-one ratio. Yet when thickened to just the right level, it become the perfect addition to cocktails and non-alcoholic libations alike. Here’s how you can make it at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup sugar

Directions

  • Combine a 1-to-1 ratio of sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture has slightly thickened. Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to one month.
